Camp Oest Facilities

This information is about off-season and weekend use of the physical Camp Oest facility, not the Oest Cub Resident Camp Program at Camp Spencer.

Dining Hall

The Dining Hall consists of an institutional kitchen, with propane stove and oven, refrigerator, sinks and counters, hot and cold water, wood stove, pots, pans and electricity.  The kitchen has electric heat.  There is no sleeping in the Dining Hall.  An Englander wood stove is provided for heat.  No standing trees may be cut.  Any dead fall located on the reservation may be used for firewood.  Most units rent this building with the Bunk House.

Bunk House (Administration Building)

There are thirty (30) cots for Scouts and leaders.  This building has heated bathroom facilities, along with separate bedrooms.  In the winter months, heat is provided by an Englander wood stove.  One night’s supply of fire wood is provided during the cold months.  Units are to get the firewood from the wood pile for the remainder of their stay and leave the wood crib full on departure.  No standing trees may be cut.  Any dead fall located on the reservation may be used for firewood.  Most units rent this building with the Dining Hall.  There are no cooking facilities.

Tent sites

There are eight (8) tent sites with latrine, fire ring, activity pavilion, and patrol tables.  Water is located nearby.  Units camp using their own tents during the winter camping season.  Tent sites are great for overnight or weekend Troop camping trips.

Reiman Pavilion

The Reiman Pavilion seats over 200 people with the use of picnic tables.  There is a nearby source of water.  Electric lights and receptacles are available for your use.  This facility is perfect for unit day events, picnics, or family get-togethers.

Houck Lodge

The Houck Lodge has central heat, a kitchen with a propane range, a refrigerator, pots, pans, a dining room/meeting room for 30, and shower facilities.  Houck Lodge has indoor sleeping accommodations for thirty (30) people with separate accommodations for male and female campers.

Campfire Circle (Amphitheater)

An amphitheater with stadium seating and campfire circle is available for large group campfires and shows.  The fee is $1.00 per person for anyone not currently registered as a camper at Broad Creek, or a minimum of $25.  No wood is provided.  All fires must be thoroughly extinguished upon leaving the area.
